The Melbourne Showground is a multi-purpose venue that caters for a number of different functions and events. The Showground is most popularly known as the venue for the annual Royal Melbourne Show, which is an agricultural Show. The features of the Melbourne Show include show bags, rides, entertainment and competitions, including livestock judging. The Showground also features its own railway station which is used during special events.

The Showground is currently being revitalised through a major upgrade and redevelopment. The features of the Showground is the main entrance, landscaped boulevard, the livestock exhibition area, main arena which encompasses an enclosed roof top and a town square providing a public open space separate from the arena. The Melbourne Showground is a versatile exhibition precinct, hosting various events and functions throughout the year.
